This year we decided to try something a little different...we took advantage of the early morning cool weather and got in before the crowds all arrived.
The kiddos had fun roaming around, playing games, checking out the fair animals (Which included the biggest, fattest hog we'd ever seen...yuck. Over 13-hundred pounds of bacon. That thing was so huge it couldn't hardly stand. I couldn't stop staring!!!), checking out the beyond cool butter sculptures, posing with the pumpkin contest winners, scooping up free bags and water bottles, and trying to fit as many booth tattoos on their arms as humanly possible.
I do have to say that we definitely beat the crowd and enjoyed the lack of lines. I think this whole going early idea just might have to be the way we hit the fair for the next few years. It's definitely the way to go when trying to fair-go with three little ones!
Showing off their Hy-Vee character signs....great way to start the fair fun. Who doesn't love a little matching game?!?
Aww...my little farmer, chicken leg, and corn dog....
It's almost RIDE time!
The first tattoo of MANY!
The 1st Place Pumkin....heart Trey's face!
This Little Peanut was in Awwwwe the entire time...
It was Drake Day at the Fair....
Someone loved the little guy below....
Got Milk?!?!
What a blast we had walking around and taking in all the Iowa State Fair goodness....
(And, don't worry, Trey did get his corn dog in and Ty enjoyed her lemonade.)
See ya again (for sure in the early AM) in 2013.......
